Common problems and solutions for printing self-adhesive labels

Self-adhesive label is also called self-adhesive label material. It is a composite material with paper, film or other special materials as the fabric, coated with adhesive on the back, and coated with silicon protective paper. After printing, die cutting and other processing, it becomes a finished product label.

Self-adhesive materials are usually printed and processed on label linkage machines. The most common printing form is embossing, and other printing methods are also used. Common faults during the printing stage are:

Fault 1: The ink layer on the surface of the label is not dry after printing, it dries slowly or the ink layer is wiped off

Reason: The printing ink layer is too thick, the amount of ink is too large, the additives used in the ink are not suitable, the ink is denatured or the type of ink used is not suitable, etc. will cause the printed ink layer to dry, dry slowly, or wipe the ink layer. Just fall; in addition, the machine runs too fast and dry ...

The solution is:

1. Use the method of deep ink thin printing to reduce the thickness of the ink layer;

2. Use fast-drying special inks;

3. Use matching supplementary Liu and add matching desiccant;

4. Take measures to extend the drying or curing time of printed matter;

5. Raise the room temperature, exhaust air properly, and speed up the ink drying speed.

Trouble 2: Poor adhesion of printing ink layer on film surface, easy to drop ink

If the surface of the film is not corona treated, or the surface tension of the film is lower than the surface tension of the ink, the ink will not be easy to adhere; this kind of failure will also occur when the unused ink does not match the characteristics of the film material or if it is not a special ink. ; And the use of expired or expired inks will inevitably lead to such failures. In addition, the power of drying device (UV or infrared hot air drying)

Low, causing the ink to not completely dry or the printing ink layer is too thick, the ink volume is too large, the ink viscosity is too rough to embrittle the ink after long-term drying, it will also result in poor adhesion of the printing ink layer on the film surface, and easy to drop ink.

The solution is:

1. To increase the surface tension of the printing material, the surface tension value must be above 38 dyne / cm;

2. Rotary labeling machines should be equipped with a corona device to improve the surface tension of the film through random corona calculation;

3. The transparent solvent-based ink can be used as a primer to improve the surface tension of the substrate;

4. Use special inks and matching additives that match the substrate;

5. Increase the drying or curing power, or reduce the speed of the machine and increase the drying time;

6, the printing ink layer should be as thin as possible, the ink volume should be as small as possible, and it can be overprinted multiple times in monochrome if necessary;

7. UV coating is recommended after printing to protect the printing ink layer and increase the adhesion of the ink layer.
